this one goes to eleven

I feel new this morning. That’s a good way to feel on the first day of the new year.

I don’t know why I feel new. It’s not like I feel this way every January 1st.

Maybe it was the view from my friends’ place.

So sparkly, right?

Maybe it was the cupcakes I made last night: devil’s food cake with salted-chocolate, buttercream icing.

In case you’re wondering, cupcakes are delicious at midnight with champagne.

They are also delicious in the morning with a crossword puzzle.

I’ll post the recipe for these cupcakes eventually. At the moment it’s all mine.

Mine, I say!

I’m entering a cupcake contest with my devil’s food, salted-chocolate buttercream recipe. Seems like I should wait to post it.

I don’t know. I’ve never entered a recipe contest before.

I do know this: I need a catchy name for my cupcake concoction and I need to make another test batch in the mini muffin tray I bought today.

Here’s to the new in life… challenges, new views, new cupcake tray that will make yummy, bite-size cupcakes.

Here’s to all my friends who have brought new lives into the world since last year. Apparently 2010 was the year of the breeder.

Here’s to new versions of ourselves and the new adventures we’ll have.

That’s my reflection in the window waving at ya! That’s my puffy hair and my puffy winter coat.

Happy 2011!

I’m waiting with bated breath for the recipe. Those cupcakes look delicious! I plan to have one with champagne at midnight (well, probably more like 10pm since I can rarely make it to midnight). Love your blog, Jorie!

Jorie, this is really looking good. Funny you should mention feeling NEW–same feeling I had this morning after totally missing the whole ‘new year’ scene!

How about “Midnight Madness” for a name for your cupcakes??
